Our client, a technology centre in the Basque Country, contacted us because they needed an ORC system that would be destined to recovering hot water generated in a prototype exhaust gas/water heat exchanger that was being validated within a European project.
Following several meetings between the engineering departments of both companies, the solution proposed was the HRU-5 machine, a machine capable of recovering heat transmitted from exhaust gases, through the heat exchanger, to a circuit of pressurized water with a nominal temperature of 135ºC.
Through HRU technology it has been possible not only to validate experimentally the theoretical design of the project, but also, thanks to the initial cooperation in the design phase, through a monitoring system and acquisition of data, a solution has been developed through which different points of the cycle operation may be analysed.
